About CoopNight
We're a couple who play PC games together most evenings. CoopNight is the site we wished existed every time we went looking for our next co-op game.
Last updated: Oct 2, 2026
Why we built this
Steam tells you a game has "Online Co-op". It doesn't tell you what actually matters when you play as a pair:
- Is it designed for two players, or is it a four-player game that feels empty with two?
- Does the person who joins keep their progress, or only the host?
- Can we get away with buying one copy?
- Will it be fun if one of us is a much better player than the other?
- Is it a story we finish together, or an endless sandbox?
Answering those used to mean reading dozens of reviews per game. CoopNight answers them up front, for every online co-op game on Steam, and keeps prices and scores fresh every day.
How it works
The couple score
The couple score (0–10) estimates how well a game works for two people playing online together. It combines:
| Factor | Weight |
|---|---|
| Steam review sentiment | up to 4 points |
| Designed for (or great with) exactly two players | +1.5 |
| Both players keep progress | +1.5 (partial: +0.75) |
| Friendly to different skill levels | +1 (mixed: +0.5) |
| One copy is enough, or free to play | +1 |
| Few co-op bugs or connection complaints | +0.5 |
| We played it and loved it | +0.5 |
When the evidence is thin, we show the score with a "~" and leave the game out of default rankings. The formula may change as we learn; we'll note changes here.
Game length
We don't copy data from other sites. Length is estimated from how many hours reviewers had played when they said they finished the game (median, outliers removed, at least 15 samples).
What AI does — and doesn't — do here
AI is used to extract short facts and summaries from real player reviews. It doesn't write our articles or our own reviews. Our "Played by us" reviews are written by us, after playing the game together.
Independence
CoopNight is independent and not affiliated with Valve, Steam or any publisher. We may earn a commission from some store links; it never affects rankings or scores. See our affiliate disclosure.
Found a mistake?
Use "Report wrong info" on any game page or get in touch. Corrections from players who know a game well are the best data we get.
